At least 43,000+ people have lost their lives, more than 83,800+ others severely injured in Turkiye and Syria after a devastating earthquake of 7.8 magnitude struck at 4:17 a.m. Monday while people were sleeping.We are far from having a complete picture of the damage as thousands are still under the rubble.
Millions of people are displaced under the open sky in freezing cold and the main needs right now are emergency shelters, hot meals and basic relief. There have been more than 60 aftershocks. People have left homes. They are fearful of staying inside, or perhaps fearful of another major earthquake.
